Terms of Service

1. Agreement to these terms

By creating an account or using Cup Cartel (the "Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, please don't use the Service.

2. What Cup Cartel is

Cup Cartel is a discovery and loyalty platform for independent coffee shops. Customers can find shops, check in when they visit, and earn rewards. Shop owners can manage their shop's profile, loyalty program, and reviews through the Owner Portal.

3. Accounts

You must provide accurate information when creating an account and are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. You're responsible for all activity that happens under your account.

4. Acceptable use

Check-ins, reviews, and rewards on Cup Cartel are meant to reflect real visits and real experiences. You agree not to:

• Falsify or attempt to fake a check-in, review, or reward redemption
• Use another person's QR/check-in credentials, or share your own to let someone else claim your rewards
• Scrape, reverse-engineer, or interfere with the Service's normal operation
• Post reviews or content that are abusive, fraudulent, or unrelated to a genuine experience

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

5. Shop owner terms

Shop owners who join as a paid Member (currently the Founding Shop program, $29/month after an initial free period) agree to pay the applicable subscription fee for continued access to Member features. Billing is currently being rolled out — where self-service billing isn't yet available for your shop, we'll invoice or bill you directly, and these terms still apply in full to your use of the Service. You're responsible for the accuracy of your shop's listed information, rewards, and any redemption codes you confirm.

6. Rewards and redemption

Cartel Points, punch-card stamps, and shop-loyalty tiers have no cash value and aren't redeemable for cash. Rewards are fulfilled by the individual shop (for shop-specific rewards) or by Cup Cartel (for the Cartel Rewards catalog), and availability isn't guaranteed. We and shop owners reserve the right to decline a redemption we reasonably believe is fraudulent.

7. Your content

You retain ownership of reviews, photos, and other content you submit. By posting it, you grant Cup Cartel a license to display, distribute, and use that content in connection with operating and promoting the Service. We may remove content that violates these terms or applicable law.

8. Intellectual property

The Cup Cartel name, logo, and app itself are owned by us. Nothing in these terms grants you rights to our trademarks or branding beyond what's needed to use the Service normally.

9. Termination

You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these terms, or if we discontinue the Service, with notice where reasonably possible.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is." We work to keep shop information, hours, and rewards accurate, but we don't guarantee that everything displayed is error-free or current — always confirm details that matter (like whether a promotion is still active) directly with the shop.

11. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Cup Cartel isn't liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim related to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us (if any) in the 12 months before the claim.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [your state/country], without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the Service evolves. We'll update the "Last updated" date above, and for material changes, we'll make a reasonable effort to notify you.
